Cisco Metaverse eBook.

Illustration / Graphic Design

Cisco is a recurring client of B2B Contact and a recurring need they come to us with is the development of infographics, whitepapers, and presentations.

One project that came about was the creation of an eBook regarding diversity in the metaverse. The ebook details the need for designers and engineers to consider the breadth of users when it comes to everything from avatar creation to the size and ergonomics of controllers.

Starting out.

After meeting with Annie, our Cisco client, and reviewing the initial draft of the book that was sent over, my first step was to begin highlighting portions of the text that either needed supporting imagery or offered a gateway to develop visual interest.

I then designed characters to tie in with Cisco’s style, while paying mind to the topic of diversity and subject of VR.

Refining.

After reviewing with Annie, the first round of images were deemed too overly illustrative—she wanted to present this less like an eBook and more like a research paper. I then began reducing things down to a light line art approach. This proved to be ideal as it could function for iconography and illustrations without eclipsing the content.

Finalizing.

With the style finalized, I laid the contents out in full. There were approximately five rounds before the final eBook was submitted.

Conclusion.

As noted, B2B has done numerous infographics, presentations, whitepapers, and play briefs over the years. Here are a few others I helped develop with similar processes and levels of responsibility.
